The majority of Iranian Americans immigrated to the United States after the 1978-1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran. Unlike many immigrant groups who came for economic reasons, Iranians came to the US for religious, political and social concerns. A large percentage of them came with money, had already studied English, possessed a good education and had strong backgrounds in business.
